A
drian McAleese of
Celtoi Designs, uses a unique technique to present the Celtic Knot, combining
aged script paper, hessian weave and golden threads. The poem below,
written by Adrian McAleese, explains the symbolism and meaning that has inspired
what has become known as 'The Celtoi Knot'.
The
Celtoi Knot
The
strand of each knot is our journey in life
We
have love, we have pain, we have laughter and strife
We
meet others, we discover, we learn and we grow
Each
experience a lesson life wants us to know
The
hessian weave, strands making a 'whole'
One
lifetime on earth; body, spirit and soul
The
golden threads reach out and explore
Like
us, on this journey, often searching for more
Look
more closely at life, you'll see you are blessed
A
Celtic blessing offering solace and rest
Like
the arms of a loved one, the advice of a friend
Giving
hope and encouragement, till this journey's end
This
journey is yours, unique with one chance
So
gather life's lessons and use to enhance
Your
life, your being, your pleasure, your pain
Remembering
that sunshine always follows the rain

The Celtic Knot is
the most identifiable type of Celtic Art. Celtic Knot work Art has been
steeped in mystery for over a thousand years. Celtic symbolism is
expressed by the interlaced patterns of unbroken lines that represent man's
pilgrimage through life and his connectedness with the land around him and all
other living things. Very often I am asked 'What do the Celtic Knots
mean?' The Celtic Knot meaning and Celtic Knot symbolism is not an exact
science as much of the symbolism has been lost over time and various Celtic
Artists attach their own meanings and interpretation.
